Papers too important to throw out, too bulky to keep? I scan your documents – typed or handwritten – into digital files that outlast the paper itself. Have typed papers you want as an editable file? I use optical character recognition (OCR) so the text becomes searchable and editable – not just a frozen PDF, but a document you can open and change in Word or whatever editor you like. English, Hebrew, any language, as long as it’s typed. Same thing for a scanned PDF already on your computer. Just want them scanned? That’s fine too.

What formats do you convert?

Media Reviver converts the following formats:

Will you return my originals?

Yes, all originals will be shipped back to you after they are converted to digital. Please do not send adapters, cameras or personal artifacts (envelops, letters or notes) with your order. Allow 3 weeks after your order is processed for the return of your originals. Shipping fees apply.

How long does it take?

Once we receive your order, you will receive an email notification within 5-7 days to review and pay for your order to be processed.

How much does it cost?

Depends on what you’ve got and how much of it. But don’t guess – the Get My Price tool gives you a real number in about a minute.

So what do you actually do?

Pretty much anything stuck on old media. VHS and camcorder tapes, photos, slides, negatives, and audio cassettes – I turn all of it into digital files you can watch and share. I also scan documents into searchable text, transfer files off old devices, and recover lost data from memory cards and drives. If it’s a memory or a file you can’t get to anymore, that’s my department.

My digital camera shows a memory card error. What should I do?

Stop using the camera and the card right away – turn the camera off, take the card out, and don’t format it even if the camera offers to. Deleted or damaged photos usually stay on the card until the card saves something new in their place, so every extra picture can erase ones that could still have been saved. If you have a computer with a memory card slot, slide the card in – or plug the camera into the computer with its USB cable. If your photos show up, they’re very likely still on it. Then put the card in a clean plastic bag and bring it to me.

My computer says my USB flash drive, external hard drive, or memory card needs to be formatted. Should I?

No – don’t format it, no matter how much the computer pushes you to. (Windows usually words it “You need to format the disk before you can use it.”) That message means your drive lost track of where your files are – it doesn’t mean they’re gone. Your photos and files are usually still on there, and formatting makes them harder to save. Unplug it, keep it somewhere safe, and bring it to me.

My external hard disk drive is clicking, fell, or doesn't show up on my computer. Can you recover it?

If it’s clicking or it fell, unplug it now and don’t run it again – every minute it runs can make the damage worse. That kind of damage needs a clean-room lab, and the ones worth trusting are Gillware (877-624-7206 / gillware.com) and DriveSavers (800-440-1904 / drivesavers.com) – this is all they do. If it simply doesn’t show up, try a different cable and a different computer first – that’s safe, and sometimes that’s all it is. If it still doesn’t show up, those same labs handle that too.

I forgot my phone, tablet, or device's passcode - can you still get my data off it?

Lock bypass isn’t my specialty, but a few labs focus on exactly this – MD Repairs (732-933-7717 / mdrepairs.com), Gillware (877-624-7206 / gillware.com), and DriveSavers (800-440-1904 / drivesavers.com). Reach out to them with your exact model and they’ll tell you if they can get in without wiping it. And before anything, check whether the phone was backing up to iCloud or Google – if it was, everything’s restorable after a reset. Not sure if you have a backup? Reach out and I’ll help you check.

My device won't turn on, and my stuff was never backed up. Can you still get it off?

Good question – and yes, in most cases I can. Here’s the honest picture: if your stuff was never backed up, it only exists on that device. So the whole job is getting it to come back on, even just for a few minutes.

First thing: plug it in and leave it charging for at least half an hour. A battery that’s completely drained makes the device look dead when really nothing’s wrong with it. And if you’ve got another cable and charger around, try those too – bad cables fool a lot of people.

Still nothing? Try a force restart. That’s just a button combination that makes the device reboot – it doesn’t erase anything. On an iPhone: press volume up, then volume down, then hold the side button until you see the Apple logo. On a Samsung or any other Android: hold the power button and volume down together for about 10 to 15 seconds.

If none of that brings it back, it’s probably the battery. A new one is something you can order and put in yourself if you’re comfortable with that. And if you’d rather not, or a new battery doesn’t do it either, reach out – I’ll take a look and tell you straight whether it’s worth pursuing before you spend a dollar.

Do you charge if you can't recover my data?

No. If I can’t recover it, you don’t pay anything, not even a diagnostic fee. You only pay if I recover your data.

How do I get my files back?

On a USB drive that I provide – a small stick that plugs into any computer, no internet needed. I always supply the drive myself rather than putting your files on one you send me, because I want your memories living on something new and reliable that I’ve tested. I set up each drive so it works on both Windows and Mac computers, and so long videos stay in one piece. The drive itself gets a real name, like “Schwartz Wedding Videotape” – not a forgettable “Removable Disk (E:)” – so years from now you’ll know exactly what’s on it. And if I’m doing a mix of things for you, like videotapes, cassettes, and documents, each kind gets its own clearly labeled folder. Just plug it in and everything’s there, organized and yours to keep.

What can I open the files on?
